Important Program Update! Reservation List Now in Effect 2

Thursday April 8, 2021

The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program has now set up a Reservation List as of 3/17/2021 to meet the financial obligations of approved applicants. All available funds have been awarded or reserved for those who applied and have been approved. For more information, please read on.

A Reservation List means:

All program funds are now committed to program participants who have completed a qualifying application and received an Approval Letter. Approved applicants have 60 days to redeem their grant. If the grant is not redeemed, those funds become available to the next person on the Reservation List. The CVA Program awards funds on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We have limited funding so we cannot guarantee there will be funds available for all qualified applicants. Completing an application and joining the Reservation List does not guarantee funds will be available for you. Funds are only guaranteed for applicants who receive an Approval Letter.

Application processing times will be significantly delayed for current applicants while the Reservation List is in effect, which means your application will take a longer time than usual to be processed and reviewed.

If you currently have an open application, we encourage you to complete your application if you would like to join the Reservation List.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is the current status of the program?

The CVA Program has a Reservation List as of 3/17/2021. We cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive a grant. If you are a current applicant, please expect long wait times for communications and application processing. Thank you for your patience. We are working with the California Air Resources Board to secure additional funds and we hope to serve all of you!

2. What is a Reservation List?

A Reservation List means that the program’s funds have all been committed to existing applicants who have received a grant Approval Letter. As funds become available, we will send Approval Letters to eligible participants in the order their applications were approved. For current applicants, we cannot guarantee if or when funds will be available so please expect very long wait times. Funds are guaranteed for applicants who have an Approval Letter and purchase an eligible vehicle within their eligibility time frame.

3. Can I still apply for the CVA Program?

The CVA Program is currently closed to new applicants.

4. I submitted an application and I’m still waiting to hear back. Am I on the Reservation List?

If you have successfully submitted a complete application, that means you are now on our current Reservation List. As funds become available, we will send out Approval Letters to eligible participants in the order their applications were approved. If you have not heard back from the CVA Program, please wait for an email update or email us at cleanvehicles@beneficialstate.org for a quicker response.

5. I received a grant Approval Letter. Are funds available for me to redeem my grant?

Yes. Funds are guaranteed for applicants who have an Approval Letter and purchase an eligible vehicle within their eligibility time frame.

6. My clean vehicle grant expired. Can I get an extension?

No. If you do not redeem your grant by your approval expiration date, those funds become available to the next person on the Reservation List. However, you can re-apply to our program again.
