The CVA Program is now closed

Important Program Update: Reservation List Status

Good news, we have received funding from the state of California to begin serving the current reservation list! There is limited funding to serve the reservation list. This does not guarantee you will receive a grant, once the funding runs out the reservation list will close. Participants who were not served a grant this phase may re-apply when the program re-opens and applications are made available again.

There is no timeframe for when you will receive a decision. Please keep an eye out in your email for a decision, and our website for any program updates. Thank you for your patience through this process.

If you are no longer in need of the CVAP grant, please close your application HERE or call us to close your application at (559) 271-1957. Remember, once an application is closed, we cannot reopen it and you will have to re-apply when applications are made available again.

Important Program Update: The Reservation List is Now at Full Capacity

We’ve received a great response to the program and therefore the Reservation List is at full capacity. A Reservation List was put into effect 3/17/21 because all available funds were awarded or reserved for those who had already applied and those already approved for funding. Unfortunately, we do not expect to receive additional funds until next year due to delays at the legislature, so we are closing the program to new applicants and applicants who are not on the Reservation List as of 4/14/2021.

More information will be emailed to current applicants over the next few weeks. To check if you are on the Reservation List, fill out this status check form. Once you submit the form you will receive an email with information about your application status.

We have limited funding so we cannot guarantee funds will be available for all qualified applicants. If you are on the Reservation List it does not guarantee funds will be available for you. Funds are only guaranteed for applicants who receive an Approval Letter and purchase an eligible vehicle within their eligibility time frame.

Finally, we have not scheduled a date for reopening the CVA Program and we don’t expect to until 2022, so we encourage you to look at other incentive programs here if you need immediate assistance purchasing a clean vehicle.

Thank you for your support of the CVA Program. If you have additional questions, the best way to reach us is at cleanvehicles@beneficialstate.org.

Important Program Update! Reservation List Now in Effect 2

The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program has now set up a Reservation List as of 3/17/2021 to meet the financial obligations of approved applicants. All available funds have been awarded or reserved for those who applied and have been approved. For more information, please read on.

A Reservation List means:

All program funds are now committed to program participants who have completed a qualifying application and received an Approval Letter. Approved applicants have 60 days to redeem their grant. If the grant is not redeemed, those funds become available to the next person on the Reservation List. The CVA Program awards funds on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We have limited funding so we cannot guarantee there will be funds available for all qualified applicants. Completing an application and joining the Reservation List does not guarantee funds will be available for you. Funds are only guaranteed for applicants who receive an Approval Letter.

Application processing times will be significantly delayed for current applicants while the Reservation List is in effect, which means your application will take a longer time than usual to be processed and reviewed.

If you currently have an open application, we encourage you to complete your application if you would like to join the Reservation List.

Pandemic Response: Temporary Program Changes 4

The CVA Program team would like to send our best wishes to everyone impacted by the evolving health and economic crisis. The CVA Program is open and will continue accepting applications until further notice. Due to the pandemic, participants should expect significantly longer wait times. We are working hard to minimize our application processing time, but currently, participants can expect to wait three months or more to hear back about their eligibility. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Due to ongoing disruptions caused by the pandemic, the CVA Program has made the following programmatic changes to protect our team’s health and safety, while also accommodating program participants who are impacted.

Updates:

  • We realize it might not be possible to redeem a grant within the normal 35-day timeline due to the pandemic so we have extended the deadline by an additional 25 days for any approved grant applications. In total, approved applicants will have 60 calendar days to redeem their funds once the grant application has been approved. To learn more, please visit the FAQ Page.

  • Due to disruptions in IRS services for our automated income verification process, we are not able to use that service. Instead, CVA Program staff collect and process income documentation directly from applicants. Please submit your most recent 1040 form in the Income Verification section of the application. To view a complete list of income verification documents accepted, click here.

We will continue monitoring the impacts of the evolving health and economic crisis and will consider additional changes if needed.  Please continue visiting our website to access the most up-to-date information. Again, the CVA Program team is with you, your family, and our community during this difficult time.

Updates:

  • We have extended the deadline to redeem a grant by an additional 90 days for any approved grant applications until further notice. In total, approved applicants will have 125 days to redeem their funds once the grant application has been approved. We realize it might not be possible to redeem a grant within the normal 35-day timeline and we encourage our participants to wait to visit a dealership until federal, state and local guidance deems it safe to do so.

  • Starting May 1st, 2020 we will accept tax transcripts directly from participants. We are currently unable to collect tax transcripts because the IRS is temporarily suspending acceptance of new tax transcript requests at this time.

  • The IRS tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15th. Therefore, we will continue to accept 2018 tax transcripts until July 15th, 2020.
